the herb haygood bio

I was born and raised in Sarasota, FL and attended Sarasota High School from Coach Haygood at Lansing Eastern Camp 20091993-1997. Upon graduation I attended Michigan State University on a football scholarship earning All-American Honors. Since my departure from Michigan State University in December 2001, my wife and I have traveled all over the world in pursuit of my dream of playing professional football. In 2002, I was drafted in the fifth round by the Denver Broncos. After suffering a career impacting injury in the 2003 pre-season I spent time with other NFL teams, and even played in the European, Canadian, and Arena Football Leagues.

I am entering my 3rd season as Assistant Football Coach at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, MI.  My first year coaching was as Assistant Football Coach at Olivet College in Olivet, MI.  Since 2006, I have been Camp Director of The Off Season Camps and Training which specializes in the training of Quarterbacks, Receivers, Offensive Backs, Linebackers, and Defensive Backs and has trained more then 600 athletes in the past 4 years through its myriad of summer camp programs and private sessions. In 2007, The Off Season Camps and Training watched forty four of its past campers make Division One commitments as a part of the national recruiting class.

While working with athletes and fellow coaches, I achieve immense fulfillment and believe that my education and experiences would help me relate to all athletes and coaches. I am a coach with a personal attitude that emphasizes a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of life. In my spare time I have dedicated myself to helping individuals from diverse ranges of demographic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. As a result of my opportunities, I am determined to give today's youth the guidance and leadership necessary to lead them to success.
